Manager, Medical Device Engineering (Preclinical)

Meet has partnered with an industry-leading medical device company based in Southern California looking to expand their Advanced Research and Technology team. The company focuses on rapid development of diabetes care technology and has an impressive and consistent track record of developing new, innovative technologies. Our client is searching for a hands-on technical manager to manage a diverse engineering team through pre-clinical evaluations of in vivo system performance for new technologies. The manager will also lead early feasibility and pre-clinical projects of their own.

Role Responsibilities:

• Hire, manage, and develop a diverse engineering team focused on preclinical study projects for next generation device development.
• Manage CRO partner efforts and team’s preclinical/animal studies occurring at CRO facility.
• Work with project leads to determine pre-clinical study designs, metrics, and analysis methods to evaluate and address risks of the new designs.
• Develop and maintain project timelines and provide updates and feedback to project leadership.

Required Skills/Experience:

• MS/PhD in Chemical, Materials Science, Biomedical Engineering, or related field.
• 8-12 years of R&D experience in the medical device industry
• 1-3 years of Management experience for engineering/R&D teams
• Hands-on experience designing and leading preclinical studies, animal studies, and in vivo evaluations.
• Prior experience managing CRO partners and pre-clinical research studies.
• Experience with experimental design, statistics, DOE techniques, data analysis methods and software (JMP or MATLAB preferred).
• Ability to run self-directed projects, project teams, manage timelines, transfer technology, and execute projects in R&D environment.
