Position Title: Director of Outsourcing and Vendor Governance

Responsibilities:

  • Lead a team of contract and outsourcing professionals to develop strategic contracts and sourcing plans for clinical development functional areas.
  • Develop sourcing and vendor oversight/governance strategies to achieve savings, risk mitigation, and improved supplier performance.
  • Implement clinical sourcing strategies with a planning horizon of typically 12-24 months.
  • Provide leadership and development opportunities within the Outsourcing and Vendor Governance function.
  • Establish and oversee vendor governance, ensuring quality of work, cost efficiency, and adherence to timelines.
  • Develop sourcing analytics/metrics to improve decision-making and measure value.
  • Establish governance across clinical supplier relationships, including CROs.
  • Manage the evolution of clinical vendor partnerships and negotiate contractual agreements.
  • Facilitate supplier negotiations to ensure alignment with strategic business needs.
  • Apply critical thinking and strategic vision to grow vendor relationship management plans.
  • Participate in cross-functional improvement processes and policies.
  • Evaluate new business processes or process improvement opportunities within the Outsourcing and Vendor Governance function.
  • Utilize industry best practices to drive continuous improvements aligned with overall strategy.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree required; MBA, M.S. or M.A. preferred.
  • 12+ years of experience in clinical sourcing or supplier management.
  • Deep expertise in global program design.
  • Experience in the pharmaceutical or biotech industry.
  • Ability to lead cross-functional teams and drive key initiatives.
  • Aptitude for negotiating complex contracts.
  • Proficiency in business planning, analytics, and process synthesis.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and presentation skills.
  • Knowledgeable about sourcing practices and relevant tools/systems.
  • Demonstrated leadership and communication skills.
  • Familiarity with regulatory compliance trends and interfacing with regulatory functions.
  • Willingness to travel as required.
