Responsibilities of an Account Director

 

Depending on the employer, an Account Director is responsible for the following:

  • Build and manage relationships with key clients, colleagues and other stakeholders 
  • Play a key role in driving excellent client service and delivery of results
  • Devise strategic advertising campaigns that meet the client's brief and budget 
  • Present and pitch campaign ideas to the client and agency
  • Write and document client reports
  • Secure new business for the agency
  • Build and maintain client relationships
  • Support both junior and senior team members
  • Manage any of the agencies outsourced freelancer work relevant to the campaign
  • Understand the clients brand and ensure this adheres to the campaign 
  • Be the contact link between the internal business and the client marketing agency 
  • Negotiate details of the campaigns with both client and agency
  • Lead and monitor effective projects and campaigns
  • Be accountable for the campaigns budgets, costs and invoices
  • Liaise with clients to ensure their specific briefs are met
     

Skills and experience needed

Top Account Director talent will be required to have the below skills and experience:

  • Experience working in a healthcare and PR/communications agency 
  • Knowledge of digital content to strengthen a message across multiple media channels relevant to a client’s key audiences
  • A strong understanding of client needs across various markets
  • Excellent written and verbal skills 
  • Ability to communicate effectively
  • A strategic thinker.
  • Solid knowledge of financial and general account management 
  • In-depth knowledge of global healthcare environments
  • Experience in line management and developing a team
  • Ability to think creatively and have strong media relations skills
  • Able to build strong client relationships
  • Data analytics and brand communication skills
  • Ability to create and lead digital and social media campaigns
  • Prior experience in pitching
  • People management and leadership skills

Any Account Director will be expected to have a BS/MS degree or postgraduate qualification in any of the below:
