My week at Meet NYC office - Blaze McGuire

I have recently returned from my 10-day trip to our NYC, Manhattan, office.

My week has been jammed packed with training, after work social activities (loads of prosecco enjoyed on roof top bars!) and obligatory tourist selfies. The 30-degree sunshine wasn’t too bad either!

We are expanding rapidly and have had a number of new starters join our US business. As part of our onboarding process it is integral that new starters receive our sales and market specific training to feel confident and supported in what they do.  As part of our Academy, which focuses on blended & continuous learning, I also rolled out our new coaching sessions around Optmising Performance to consultants that have been with us for 6-12 months.

As Head of People it’s great to be part of a company that places so much importance on continued learning and development, and career progression. Not to mention – global opportunities for all staff. Our Manhattan office is a good mixture between US and UK nationals who we have sponsored to move abroad. The opportunity for travel and the chance to work in another office is set to continue with our San Francisco office opening at the end of this year. We have also recently been awarded our Gold accreditation through Investors in People, which is the highest level of this international award. This is classed as an ‘Outstanding’ achievement and puts us in the top 2% of entered businesses (14,000 organisations across the world!). We have been assessed across leadership potential, career opportunities and development of staff across all of our offices. So yes, it’s something that we are very proud of.

Thanks to the Meet team in NYC for being so great and organising lots of fun activities with me. A particularly fun memory includes a Saturday day trip that was organised to Coney Island – famous for its beach and fair ground. Unbeknownst to us it was the ‘Mermaid Parade’, so we partied on the beach with thousands of dressed-up people dancing away to bongo drums! I also forgot I was scared of rollercoasters … I rediscovered this whilst shooting up into the air on ‘The Cyclone’ – it’s the same ride that Mariah Carey shot ‘Fantasy’ on.

It was a blast NYC –
