For one of our Recruiters, Cope, living in New York was the dream! Here’s his story of relocating from Texas to work in Meet's New York office...
With a technical engineering background, I graduated college wanting to pursue a different kind of career than my engineering counterparts. Coming from a family of sales I have always been attracted to the idea of a fast paced, competitive, and commission driven role. So, shortly after graduating I joined a recruitment firm in Houston, TX.
I loved my first job in recruitment, but it had always been my dream to live in New York and after a promising few months, I began exploring new opportunities in New York!
Scheduling interviews is a challenge when relocating – no one wants to be travelling across the country every other day. Through some careful planning I managed to interview with several incredible agencies all within a 12-hour stint! Running around Manhattan in a suit and tie, in the August humidity, was all worth it when I received my formal offer from Meet.
There were multiple factors that led me to accepting the offer from Meet. Obviously, the location was important. However, after meeting with various firms, the investment Meet places in its people really stood out. Senior leadership play an active role in day-to-day operations and proactively work to maintain a positive culture. The company offers personalized training programs, clear career progression and an uncapped commission structure. From not only the perspective of an interviewee, but also someone relocating across the country, I saw Meet as an opportunity to join a dynamic organization and become an integral part of the growth plans.
As I began preparing for the move, it dawned on me how many logistical challenges come with moving – selecting a neighborhood in New York, choosing an apartment, getting my things transported from Texas and all while tying up loose ends in Houston. Albeit stressful and a bit chaotic at times, I remained focused on the reason for the move: to join the Meet team and be in New York (finally)!
It goes without saying it was a nerve-racking few months of preparation but thankfully, Meet and the team were on hand to make the transition as seamless as possible.
I’ve recently celebrated 6 months with the business; my role has been to build out the Regulatory Affairs division and I work alongside an incredibly talented and strategic team. I’m more confident than ever in the company’s vision and the role each consultant plays in that vision.
The culture and opportunity here are paving the way to a very bright and prosperous future - there has never been a better time to join. Get in touch with our Talent Acquisition team: Graham McKernon or Ryan McGuiness at firstname.lastname@example.org to hear more!
