Max Jackson
CEO, EMEA & APAC Sudler & Hennessey
How was the last 12 months for Sudler
London?
The last 12 months can only be described as one hell of a
ride. The agency doubled in size and had a great 'new
business' run. We established a new OTC unit, refreshed our
creative department, and despite all the changes managed to have a
great time. The only downside was that we ran out of space
after having just expanded. Thankfully, we have got enough
room for 2012 so we won't need to double stack people just yet.
What has driven the success?
Of course in our business, it's the people that count - and at
Sudler London, we've got a talented bunch of individuals - driven
by a common philosophy, shared goals and a can-do spirit.
This reflects in the kind of ideas we produce and the energy we
exhibit. We've worked really hard to get the balance between
working hard and having more fun and to create a 'buzz' in the
agency. Clients feel this energy and they like to be a part
of it. An even stronger focus on developing engaging and
compelling creative ideas and driving them through all
communication channels has further enhanced this spirit and
energy.
How does 2012 look?
Well, at this early stage it looks pretty good. We've got
a couple of major new divisions starting up, a new Planning
department, a new Creative Director and a host of new and exciting
brands to work on. 2012 looks like a tough year globally but
we're in good shape to meet the challenges ahead. Digitally,
we continue to evolve as well - always looking for innovative and
entertaining ways to engage our consumers - whether using social
media, augmented reality or any other way that we can effectively
communicate our clients' brands and the benefits they bring.
But is Sudler London any different from any other big
network agency?
We strongly believe we are - from the depth of our thinking, the
insights that we bring, the ideas we generate and that little extra
that we put into everything we do. Most people visiting our
offices remark immediately on the atmosphere and the high energy
levels. Agencies run on energy - we simply think that Sudler
London operates at a level higher than the rest.
What sort of person would do well at Sudler
London?
We don't have a 'Sudler type'. In fact we're always
looking for people with something different to offer - something
individual. There are some common characteristics however,
which include a real passion for brands and communication, loving
what you do, and having an opinion that's worth listening to.
A true team spirit is a must and having a sense of humour comes in
handy at the more hectic moments!
